So let me tell ya one of the funniest stories of the New Testament in my opinion... I'll tell it in my own words at first, then post it as written in the Bible at the bottom...
This is the way I see it at this time... Click the "read more" link to continue...
So they got together with the Herodians, and schemed how to get him killed... And they finally figured out how they could do it... They schemed to use his own words to get him killed!!!
So heading out, they tracked him down (which wasn't hard, all they had to do was follow the trail of healed paralytics, blind folks with sight restored, and the many peeps praising his name for the miracles he worked in their lives)
And when they caught up with him, they were like - "Yo Jesus, is it cool to pay taxes to Caesar, or not???
Now they already knew the answer to this... for they themselves knew it was an abomination to God to give tribute to any man who claimed to be a god... So they hoped to catch Jesus in his answer and have him locked up and killed for either blaspheming against God, or rebelling against Rome...
But Jesus knew what was in their wicked hearts, and already had an answer for em, most likely prepared from before the foundations of the world were formed...
So Jesus says to em, something along these lines...
You bunch of snivelin sneaky freaks, show me this money you are talking about giving to Caesar!
At this point they are thinking they got him... so one of em hands him a Denarius....
And this is where it gets hilarious....
I can see him now... He takes that coin, turns it over a couple of times looking at it... (at this point the Herodians and Pharisees may even be hand signaling guards to move in closer LOL)
And just when they think they have him, Jesus Christ holds up that silver coin in their faces, and says -
Whose IMAGE and INSCRIPTION is this!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!! A look of HORROR came over their faces!!!! For right there in there face, Jesus Christ was holding up a GRAVEN IMAGE, on SILVER, With Words INSCRIBED on it claiming Caesar was a god LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!
Now... Ya gotta see this in your minds eye.... Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy!!!!!
From Genesis to Deuteronomy, The Words of the Torah were running through these Pharisees minds LOL.... All of it forbidding them to have ANYTHING to do with such wickedness as giving this type of worship to such a false false god LOLOLOLOLOLOL.....
At this point, I can see Jesus Christ flipping that ol coin over, and showin em the goddess Pax seated on the other side of that ol wicked coin!!!! at which point the pharisees back up yet another step in shock!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Then Jesus Christ calmly and quietly, with a smile on his face, says -
Render unto Caesar what is Caesars, and unto God what is Gods.
The Pharisees are ASTOUNDED!!!! They may have fallen backwards a bit More!!!!
With that one sentence, Jesus Christ not only declared that Caesar was not a god at all, but let em know in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS that they were NOT EVER BOUND TO GIVE TRIBUTE TO CAESAR LOL....
And he did it all so that anyone listening, would think he was not going against Caesar to boot LOL....
You see, every Pharisee there KNEW FOR A FACT THAT EVERYTHING IN THIS ENTIRE UNIVERSE BELONGS TO GOD!!!!!!! AND NOTHING BELONGS TO CAESAR!!!!!
Funniest Story ever :) :) :)
The inscription reads “Ti[berivs] Caesar Divi Avg[vsti] F[ilivs] Avgvstvs” (“Caesar Augustus Tiberius, son of the Divine Augustus”), claiming that Augustus was a god. The reverse shows a seated female, usually identified as Livia depicted as Pax.
Now here is the real thing.... Read it for once in your life with real understanding.... this is funny as all get out... And by the way, The Story in Mark is even funnier due to the Parable given there right before hand... The Parable before hand is not whats funny, in fact, that is deadly serious... Whats funny is the way Jesus Christ hands them their collective hinies... It's Mark 12 if ya wanna see Jesus Christ hand them their hinies twice in a row LOL :) :) :)
Mat 22:1 And Jesus answered and spoke to them again by parables, and said,
Mat 22:2 The kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king who made a marriage for his son.
Mat 22:3 And he sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; and they would not come.
Mat 22:4 Again he sent out other servants, saying, Tell those who are invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatlings are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the marriage.
Mat 22:5 But not caring, they went their ways, one to his field, another to his trading.
Mat 22:6 And the rest took his servants and treated them spitefully, and killed them.
Mat 22:7 But when the king heard, he was angry. And he sent out his armies and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.
Mat 22:8 Then he said to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they who were invited were not worthy.
Mat 22:9 Therefore go into the exits of the highways, and as many as you shall find, invite them to the marriage.
Mat 22:10 So the servants went out into the highways and gathered together as many as they found, both bad and good. And the wedding was filled with reclining guests.
Mat 22:11 And the king coming in to look over the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment.
Mat 22:12 And he said to him, Friend, how did you come in here without having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.
Mat 22:13 Then the king said to the servants, Bind him hand and foot and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Mat 22:14 For many are called, but few chosen.
Mat 22:15 Then the Pharisees left and took counsel that they might entangle Him in words.
Mat 22:16 And they sent their disciples out to Him along with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that you are true, and that you teach the way of God in truth. Nor do you care for anyone, for you do not regard the person of men.
Mat 22:17 Therefore tell us; what do you think? Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar or not?
Mat 22:18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why do you tempt Me, hypocrites?
Mat 22:19 Show Me the tribute money. And they brought a denarius to Him.
Mat 22:20 And He said to them, Whose image and inscription is this?
Mat 22:21 They said to Him, Caesar's. Then He said to them, Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things which are God's.
Mat 22:22 When they heard these words, they marveled, and they left Him and went away.
